Democrats Using “Magic Math” Again, This Time To Lower Reported Antsemitic Crimes

Democrat’s love hate relationship with math is back on again. Like so many things, Democrats hate things that are detrimental to them, but can fall in love with those very same things they despise if they can manipulate them in their favor.

Math is an area where Democrats often struggle. When Republicans present statistics, Democrats tend to deny the math or manipulate it to avoid future accountability.

Such is the case with the antisemitic crime figures that are reported monthly in New York City. In January, anti-Jewish incidents jumped a whopping 182 percent, after the Palestinian-loving, Muslim, Communist Mayor Mamdani took office.

Following the alarming report, the way crime statistics were reported in February changed. Without prior notice, the NYPD revised the rules. Now, crimes will be counted only after they have been investigated by the Hate Crime Task Force and confirmed as hate crimes.

This is a very convenient change. After all, think about how bad it would look if antisemitic crime increased on a regular basis after Mamdani was elected. So what to do? I know, let’s fudge the numbers!

The change was immediate. According to NYPD data, only 21 antisemitic crimes were listed in February – 10 fewer than in January.

As of March 15, the NYPD reported 69 anti-Jewish crimes this year, compared to 58 during the same period last year, showing a politically palatable 19 percent increase, according to the manipulated data.

Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz, of Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun on the Upper East Side, told it like it is.

“We’re all watching the manufacturing of propaganda in real time. They’ll change the method of counting antisemitic crimes, and literally six months later, the mayor’s office will claim that antisemitism has dropped. What it will do is it will burnish the mayor’s credentials but unfortunately it will further marginalize Jews.”

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who is the first female Jewish Police Commissioner in New York’s history, bit the bullet and became a team player for Mamdani. At a budget hearing this month, she claimed that the previous accounting method distorted reality.

“I believe in transparency. I also believe that the numbers the NYPD was previously reporting were conflicting, wrong, and confusing. In my opinion, what we should be reporting on is confirmed instances of hate crimes.”

Really, Tisch took office in November of 2024, so for the entire year of 2025, she was fine with the reporting. Only when the numbers started to rise, making Mamdani look bad, did she decide that the reporting was an issue.

Then another old democrat tactic kicked in. After they began lying to justify the change, someone else stepped forward to prove it didn’t affect anything.

Enter an NYPD “spokeswoman” who said that if the NYPD had kept the old counting system in place, only one additional antisemitic crime would have been counted in February 2026.

Right.

The NYPD “spokeswoman.” Now there’s someone you can trust. A talking head is always believable.

Not everyone agreed with Tisch and the “spokeswoman.” NYPD Detective Michael Alcazar, an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, stated that, “It’s textbook fudging the numbers.”

“It’s going to look like they’re combating hate crimes, but they’re not being transparent. If they really want to be transparent, then they should show the number of complaints they actually receive and what the investigations yielded.”

Mamdani, who is strongly anti-Israel, has reversed executive orders implemented by former Mayor Eric Adams that aimed to combat antisemitism. His wife, Rama Duwaji, has liked social media posts that celebrate the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas on innocent Israelis and cast doubt on the experiences of Israeli rape victims.

The next two moves by the Democrats were also predictable. Mamdani played the victim card, whining that people only attack him because he’s Muslim. I guess he thinks New Yorkers are too stupid to read or to research his and his fascist wife’s past.

After that came the Democrat disclaimers. A City Hall “spokesman” claimed the change in hate crime accounting wasn’t ordered by Mamdani’s office.

Right on queue, another “spokesman” claimed that Mamdani had nothing to do with it.

“The NYPD made this decision without City Hall involvement,” the spokesman said.

Right.

Elisha Wiesel, the son of the late Holocaust survivor, author, and political activist Elie Wiesel, stated that the tone-deaf disconnect has created a widening “gap of trust” between the socialist mayor and the Jewish community in the city.

“If that gap of trust didn’t exist, all of these issues would likely be viewed with much less suspicion.” He then cited the mayor’s refusal, “To condemn the call to ‘globalize the intifada’ as hate speech.”

“Still to this day, he hasn’t condemned it, and then, you know, his director of appointments had to resign over antisemitic tweets.”

Wiesel was talking about Catherine Almonte Da Costa, who resigned in December after disgusting online posts from 2011 and 2012 were revealed.

When asked if he believed that hate crimes were increasing due to societal divisiveness, Wiesel responded, “It sure would be great to have the numbers so we could figure that out.”

Rabbi Steinmetz stated that the previous accounting method should be reinstated.

“I think there should be a loud outcry telling them to change it back. To me, if you are sincere about combating anti-Semitism, you need to measure the complaints.”

“We have this new administration that is really for their purposes diminishing – backpedaling on antisemitism.”

This behavior would not be surprising even if the Democrat in question were of a different religion and endorsed capitalism. Democrats can’t help themselves.

However, the fact that Mamdani is a Muslim and a Communist/Socialist who is manipulating antisemitic crime reports makes his offenses drastically more egregious.
