Like Award Shows, The WHCA Dinner Has Been Destroyed By Leftist Politics

I was never a huge award show person, but there was a time when shows like the Oscars were enjoyable to watch. Itโ€™s hard to believe now, but there was a time when a three-hour awards show had nothing to do with politics and focused only on the movies and the actors and actresses involved.

Likewise, the White House Correspondentsโ€™ Dinner was also enjoyable to see clips of. Obviously, there was politics involved there; it couldnโ€™t be avoided, but for that night, the jabs were lighthearted and werenโ€™t really personal. At least not deeply personal like they are today, and definitely not hateful.

Sadly, awards shows now are distinctly political. Hollywood is populated largely by liberals, most unquestionably radical, and they use that stage to push their delusional agendas, and they donโ€™t hold back on the hatred.

If there was any Republican in the White House, the hatred would still seethe within the Democratic Party and their liberal, radical ilk, but the fact that it is Donald Trump magnifies the hatred one hundredfold.

Instead of the usual rational White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner, where humor and lighthearted teasing are common, over 250 journalists have signed an open letter urging the WHCA to transform this Saturdayโ€™s dinner into a platform for a direct and forceful confrontation with President Donald Trump.

The letter was sent to the WHCA yesterday, and it calls for those at the podium to use a: โ€œforceful defense of freedom of the press and condemnation of those who threaten that freedom, followed by a standing toast to the First Amendment.โ€

In part, the letter reads:

โ€œWe understand that some journalists plan to wear pocket handkerchiefs or lapel pins with the words of the First Amendment. And continuing in that spirit, we believe the White House Correspondents Association should take stronger action by issuing, from the podium, a forceful defense of freedom of the press and condemnation of those who threaten that freedom, followed by a standing toast to the First Amendment and a pledge to continue upholding such a critical cornerstone of our democracy. Speak forcefully, in front of the man who seeks to undermine our countryโ€™s long tradition of an independent, strong, and free press.โ€

โ€œWe also urge the WHCA to reaffirm, without equivocation, that freedom of the press is not a partisan issue and that the Association will not normalize this behavior but instead fight back against any officeholder who has waged systematic war against the journalists whose work the dinner celebrates.โ€

The signatories include journalism groups such as the Society of Professional Journalists, the Coalition for Women in Journalism, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the Freedom of the Press Foundation, along with dozens of individual reporters, including old haters, Dan Rather and Sam Donaldson.

Dan Rather has no right to condemn anyone. His most significant controversy arose from a 2004 report on 60 Minutes II, in which he used falsified documents that falsely claimed President George W. Bush received special treatment while serving in the National Guard. The authenticity of these documents was questioned, as critics and experts pointed out that they featured modern fonts and formatting that did not exist in the 1970s.

Rather reported on memos claiming George W. Bush did not fulfill his National Guard duties and ignored orders. After an independent review panel’s finding, Rather apologized, acknowledging a “mistake in judgment.” He then left CBS News in disgrace after 24 years of service.

Yet here was Rather emphatically urging the press corps to โ€œforcefully demonstrate oppositionโ€ against President Trump at Saturdayโ€™s event.

Other journalists plan more subtle acts of protest, like wearing lapel pins or pocket handkerchiefs emblazoned with the text of the First Amendment at what used to be a civilized black-tie event.

Despite the atmosphere of hatred, President Trump is still scheduled to attend the dinner. In the past, He has boycotted the event, citing unfair treatment by the press.

The hypocrisy here is as thick as AOCโ€™s head or Ilhan Omarโ€™s tax form. These people are not journalists; they are talking heads vying for attention, pushing their delusional agendas. For them to farcically pretend that they care about free speech and that Trump is trying to take it away is the far-left whining and projecting their shortcomings and is nothing more than another grandiose lie.

All Trump and the majority of Americans are asking for is fair reporting. MSNOW, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and individual shows like The View and clowns like Kimmel and Colbert on late-night are disgustingly liberal. They donโ€™t report the news objectively; they all suffer from TDS, and what they are providing is not truthful free press. As a result, a Gallup poll found that only 28 percent of Americans have faith in the media. The percentage is lower among Republicans.

This type of rhetoric is dangerous; Democrats and liberals know that, but still they persist. Using terms like having a โ€œdirect and forcefulโ€ confrontation against the President of the United States sounds a lot like a threat to me, and I pray the Secret Service sees it the same way.

My advice to President Trump is to skip this circus. Stay safe and let these fools cry into their First Amendment hankies.
